Our Classrooms
Blue Room
We work on both cognitive and physical skills with the students. Through math, science, art, literacy, and sensory activities, children build their fine motor, gross motor, and cognitive abilities. We work on skills like name recognition, color identification, counting, and matching. We also encourage social-emotional development through imaginative play and peer to peer interactions. We incorporate gross motor activities like dancing and also use the playground outside every day (weather permitting). We have so much fun learning and exploring here in the Blue Room!
Peach Room
The Peach Room works on many different skills that help with growth and development. We focus on communication skills, gross and fine motor skills, colors, shapes, letters, and name recognition skills. The children begin working with scissors. We offer various sensory tables and sensory bags that go along with our theme of the week. Our dramatic play area gives the children the opportunity to cooperate, explore, dress up and use their imaginations. Friendships are being discovered and formed.
Green Room
The children learn through their environment. We offer many activities that focus on being independent, taking care of themselves and showing a sense of responsibility. They will develop their creative expression through art, dramatic play and through play with their peers. We work on developing our social skills - sharing, taking turns and forming friendships. We focus on early mathematical concepts with identifying numbers and shapes. Fine and gross motor activity are mixed throughout the day, when we cut, paint, color, play outside and at dance and movement time.
Yellow Room
We work on cognitive and and physical skills through literacy, art, science, math, and imaginative play. Socially and emotionally we are learning to problem solve with language and communication. Fine motor skills through art, writing, and manipulative play. Gross motor skills through dancing, yoga, and outside play. Literacy we are identifying both upper and lower case letters and how to write our first name. Math skills we are identifying and counting to 50. In science we are exploring through experiments with everyday materials
Light Green Room
We focus on social and emotional learning to create a foundation for the future. Our main goal is to prepare our students for life and give them a foundation for kindergarten. We use a theme based approach for curriculum. We encourage our students to learn and explore independently as well as through teacher driven small group centers and whole group circle time to enhance the curriculum. We prepare our students not only academically, but socially as well. We provide our students with opportunities to play with their peers and make lasting friendships. Our classroom environment gives our students the experience of being in a structured classroom environment which provides a smooth transition for kindergarten
Teal Room
We spend our year reaching for goals that will prepare the children for kindergarten. We focus on handwriting, letter and number recognition, fine/gross motor skills, problem solving skills, letter sounds, and more. A typical day consists of morning meeting, journals, science experiments, carpet time, math practice, music and movement, and art. We participate in large group time, as well, meaning we spend time as a whole class working on new goals as a way for the children to prepare for the kindergarten setting. Throughout the year, we cover themes like nature, weather, animals, community, and emotions just to name a few. By the time summer rolls around, we can say that these children are more than ready for kindergarten. In June, the students participate in Pre-k. graduation.
